The rape victim, Cherice Morales, committed suicide in 2010, before the trial began. She did not testify before Judge Baugh. Her rapist now faces a month in jail.
“I made some references to the victim’s age and control,” Baugh told CNN affiliate KTVQ. “It didn’t come out correct. What I said was demeaning to all women, not what I believe in, and irrelevant to the sentencing.”
Thousands of people have also signed a petition for the judge’s resignation.
The judge claimed that the CHILD victim was “in control” of the situation and “older than her chronological years.”
Thousands of people are outraged over the judge’s ruling. Prosecutors are looking into the trial and his ruling has caused endless protests. Not only that, but multiple online petitions, seeking to remove the judge from his office, were started on MoveOn.Org, Change.Org, and ThePetitionSite.Com, and spread quickly on twitter. All the petitions combined have over 70,500 signatures.
